National Alliance Bank was organizing a Family Day event for its employees. The goal was to bring colleagues together and foster a better working relationship between all members of staff, thus indirectly contributing towards increased productivity. The task of choosing the prizes for the lucky draw was given to Mr. George, a senior purchasing manager. Among the prizes he chose included the best espresso machine in the market as the main prize, two mobile phones, and ten hampers for consolation winners.

At the event, everyone was eagerly awaiting the lucky draw. The wifes of employees, in particular had their fingers crossed, hoping to be given the espresso machine as a prize. It was worth nearly a thousand dollars, and made the best coffee in town. At 4.30 pm sharp, the winners of the lucky draw were announced. Mrs. Roberts was the luckiest of the lot, winning the brand new espresso machine. Her husband, Mr. Roberts cracked a smile: he was looking forward to being served a good espresso in the morning for breakfast from now on!

Spanish Wine Solves It

I don’t condone drinking in large quantities, but it’s amazing how people seem to open up after a few glasses of wine. The other day a friend of mine split up with her boyfriend. I had no idea it was coming as far as I was aware she was okay. I went round to her house with some Spanish wine and some chocolates to comfort her. There’s very little you can do when someone feels this bad but a little wine can just be all you need to unwind. Eventually she told me about all her problems and really opened up. Every girl should have an emergency bottle of wine and chocolates just in case their best friend is in despair. Or, alternatively keep a bottle of good red wine for a birthday present. In fact, I rarely find myself drinking any because I’m always giving bottles to other people.

Mutterings on Wine and Bondiola

When I think of the best hotels in Buenos Aires I think of the Four Seasons and many others. Then I think of the best wine tastings in the world and I think of Malbec. Mendoza is usually next on my list and then my mind wanders to other places in the world. I wonder how the wine market is in Hawaii. There was a friend of mine recently who told me that his parents retired and bought a bed and breakfast in Kauai. I think that that has to be a pretty awesome retirement plan. I would imagine that the most wonderful argentine wine would go very well with some luau food. However, I don’t think that the wine tastings in Hawaii could even compare to all of the awesome wine tastings in Buenos Aires

Speaking of cooking pork I think I am obsessed with the Argentine cut of pork called bondiola. Bondiola I believe is the shoulder of the pig and here in Argentina it is absolutely awesome because it is marbled with fat. Fat tends to be the tastiest part of meat in general. I wish I could just eat all the time without any consequences. Why do there have to be consequences to eating. I think it is so wrong to have consequences to the best things in life. But I suppose also that there has to be a balance.

How does the best balanced wine taste? Very equal I would think. Balance in a wine has to do with the ratio of sugar to acid to phosphate to sulfer. Or something like that. I wonder what a not well balanced wine tastes like since they all say well balanced on the label. I hate the fact that marketing is all about tricking you into believing that the people who want to sell you something are actually telling the truth. I just prefer to put the product in front of them and let them decide for themselves.
